With many parents asking on forums 'what age is safe to start swimming lessons', it seems they are never too young to learn water skills.
While baby Liam seems to take to water like a duck, it is important to see that his mother is helping him to focus on the principals of water safety.
Teaching a child that water can be dangerous and yet fun is a fine line. Liam has a good survival technique, as he is able to float, get himself out of a panic, and move his body to the edge of the pool.

There are babies younger than Liam who can swim underwater, picture the famous Nirvana album cover 'Nevermind'. But don't be tempted to compare, as every child (and parent) is different. You must be ready to help them feel confident in the water, and that means you feeling confident with them. If you are unsure, you can always enrol in a professional swim school.
