The perfect Fiji family holiday

Read our brand manager's review of staying at the Fiji Resort & Spa managed by Hilton. A little slice of heaven!
Fiji holiday

Relaxed and happy! Shopping at the local Fiji markets.

Choosing a family holiday destination can be tricky. We researched a lot of places when we were choosing our family holiday. We wanted to go somewhere that we could escape Winter and spend time as a family that wasn’t going to break the bank! Fiji ticked all the boxes – balmy weather, close to Australia and great value, luxury accommodation.

We chose the Fiji Resort & Spa managed by Hilton as it had great swimming pools, amazing restaurants, spacious villas, kids club (where kids over 3 are free) and a great value nanny service – plus kids under 12 eat free!

As soon as we arrived we were greeted like a returning member of the family, which set the tone for our carefree, relaxing and enjoyable holiday!

The accommodation

Upon walking into our two bedroom villa, we knew it was somewhere we could call home for the next ten days. It looked over the beach with breathtaking views that we never got tired of! The rooms were so spacious and had a separate kitchen and laundry. Given we were travelling with a baby and a toddler having a washing machine and dryer was amazing!

The travel cot was set up beautifully for my baby daughter, Charlotte. It even had a complimentary Johnson & Johnson baby care pack– a beautiful touch.

My toddler son, Mitchell was very excited to see the bath towels were all folded into animal shapes. Such a quirky touch from housekeeping which was so much fun. Who needs toys when you have towels?!

There was a BBQ on the balcony which meant we could buy food and enjoy spending time in our villa and not dine-out every night. This made fitting in with our kids’ sleep and bedtime routines easy.

There was literally everything in our villa that a family could need. This was a huge draw card to the resort – especially when we would spent a few hours there each day while Charlotte was having her day sleep.

Even though the rooms were great, the facilities around the resort were equally fantastic! The resort was great with helping us with a babysitter so that we were able to enjoy some time as a couple. Our babysitter, Mere, made our trip so lovely! She bonded with our kids instantly and they were always asking when they would see her again!

Kids Club

The Kids Club was free for kids over three and Mitchell had so much fun when he was there. He tells us that getting his face painted, playing with other kids, going to the culture hour and making cupcakes were some of the favourite parts of his holiday.

We never felt worried leaving our kids at the Kids Club. All the staff were so professional and had so much fun with the kids. While our kids were there my husband, Mark and I spent time pool-side in the adults only area. We read books, drank cocktails and felt very relaxed! We also shopped at the gorgeous markets that are run by the locals and visited the spa for massages.

Local attractions

While there was great stuff to do around the resort, we also enjoyed catching the Bula Bus to the Marina and visiting the new water park. We also did a day trip to an uninhabited island which was a definite highlight – I’d never been snorkeling on coral reefs so this was a real treat.

The resort food

The food at the resort was also a real highlight. The best part was when we paid for a main meal the kids ate for free. The kids even had their own breakfast buffet which was designed especially for their little tummies. It was such a great idea as the fruit was even cut for little fingers and the plates and cups were plastic so we didn’t have to stress about any breakages.

Charlotte, who is a very fussy eater, has never eaten as well as she did when we were at Fiji We even asked if the chef could come home with us! The resort also has two ice cream bars. This was Charlotte’s first introduction to ice-cream – needless to say we were visiting the ice cream bar daily. It was such a hit with both kids!

If you are looking for a holiday to remember, I highly recommend the Fiji Resort & Spa Managed by Hilton. This holiday was the best mix of everything and kept the grown-ups and kids happy.
